International forum on standardization will be held in Russia for the first time

MOSCOW, October 9, 2019 – The first national industry forum “Standardization-2019” will be held on October 10-11 in St. Petersburg. Representatives of government, business and public organizations from Russia and foreign countries will discuss the most persistent problem of international, regional and national standardization. Among the topics is the launch of a pilot project to develop ISO standards based on interstate GOSTs.

“Standardization should become an effective mechanism for the industrial and social and economic development of the country - especially in the context of the implementation of national projects. Standards allow you to create technological chains, guaranteeing the observance of the interests of market participants, and, above all, consumers. The first specialized forum will allow to have a fresh look at the national model of standardization and strengthen the dialogue between the state, domestic producers of products and the industry community”, said the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

An event on this scale will be held for the first time in Russia. The forum has been organized by STANDARTINFORM with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the national standardization body - the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart). Representatives of Rosstandart Management will talk about the strategy and format of work of the National Institute of Standards.

One of the main events of the forum will be the presentation of the accelerator of Rosstandart, which will bring together the best specialists of the agency system across the country. The task of its participants is to create new IT solutions for the development of standardization. The first digital accelerator project will be presented already at the forum.

“The world is changing rapidly, and the technologies of artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and unmanned vehicles are today a reality that requires modern approaches in standardization. Corporate accelerator is able to make our work more efficient and in demand due to new solutions and services. The exchange of best practices between national and corporate standardization will strengthen the response of the economy, and will become a tool to increase competitiveness for business", noted the Head of Rosstandart Alexey Abramov.

Experts will answer the questions:

- When the development of national standards will become completely paperless?

- What is state ready to offer to overcome barriers in developing standards for small and medium-sized business?

- What competencies will be required in standardization tomorrow?

The discussion is expected to be attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Besprozvannykh, Head of Rosstandart Alexey Abramov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee Vladimir Gutenev, Elected President of ISO Edward Nyoroge, Member of the Board (Minister) for Technical Regulation of the EEC Viktor Nazarenko, Deputy Head of the State Administration for Standardization of China Gu Baotsong, Head of Roskachestvo Maxim Protasov.

The forum’s speakers will also be representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Government of St. Petersburg, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Support of Russia, the Union of Mechanical Engineers, Skoltech, the Krylov State Scientific Center and many other organizations. Experts from leading industrial enterprises - the flagships of the Russian economy are also invited.

The event will be attended by experts from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), heads of national standardization bodies of foreign countries and CIS countries.
