Russian Federation passes the baton to South Korea 82nd IEC General Meeting

82nd General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission took place from 22 to 26 October, 2018 in the city of Busan (South Korea).
The IEC GM annually gathers not only heads of national committees
and scientists but also technological production leaders such as Samsung, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch, Siemens, Kingston, LG etc.
The 82nd GM in Busan consolidated 171 member countries with more than 3300 delegates together to make a huge contribution in the future of standardization.
Mr. Alexey Abramov - Head of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology headed the Russian delegation, Deputy Head of Rosstandart Mr. Anton Shalaev, Head of External Relations Department Ms. Maria Pishchulina, Secretary
of NC Mrs. Natalia Pankratova and other representatives of subordinate organizations took part in the IEC GM.
Among the major events that were visited by Russian delegation this year were 25th Presidents’ Forum, Market Strategy Board Meeting, Regulatory Forum and strategic session «Digital transformation».
During the Regulatory Forum, the IEC President Mr. James M. Shannon noted that IEC and regulators must work together, to meet the energy needs of future generations. World Smart Cities Forum was also one of the key topics for discussion during the IEC GM. This Forum has been organized by the ISO, IEC and ITU for the last two years and has become a must to participate in.
Last year General Meeting took place in Vladivostok (Russian Federation).
The key topics for discussion were smart technologies, industrial automation, integration of renewable energy sources into grids, electrical equipment
and systems for railway roads, electroacoustic, and safety requirements.
