RUSSIAN AND FINNISH METROLOGISTS DISCUSSED CONSERVATION TECHNOLOGIES

FINLAND, June 11, 2019 – Russia is ready to offer measuring technologies in the field of environment protection for realization of international environmental policy of the Baltic States.
      Scientific and technical potential and joint research results were presented by Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and Rosstandart delegation at the 26th meeting of the Russian-Finnish Working group on standardization and conformity assessment of the Intergovernmental Russian-Finnish commission on economic cooperation. The meeting took place in Helsinki.

Finnish side was represented by industry public services, leading industrial and public enterprises. D.I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (VNIIM) and National Research Institute of Physicotechnical and Radio Engineering Measurements (VNIIFTRI) presented their projects at the Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE).

The foreign experts became interested at the Russian achievements in the field of research and quality control of the Baltic Sea water, development of measuring technologies for definition of stanniferous connections, dangerous to the biosphere, and development of the methods allowing identifying the oil product origins. Within the Russian-Finnish programs for atmospheric air monitoring VNIIM initiated conducting joint comparisons with the Finnish meteorological institute (FMI).

The invitation from the Russian side for international comparisons in the field of ionizing radiation and improvement of radiopharmaceutical handling methods for nuclear medicine was received by the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK). During the visit Russian scientists examined work of Metrology and Accreditation Center (MIKES) and visited the Vaisala Company, which is a well-known device manufacturer for environmental monitoring.

As noted by the head of Rosstandart delegation, head of metrology department Dmitry Gogolev, Russia, integrated with the Baltic States by means of marine ecosystem, presented its best practices in the field of metrological support of environmental monitoring. Dmitry Gogolev said: «Сooperation of Russian and Finnish metrologists lays the groundwork for an accurate and reliable environmental monitoring in this region».
