SAINT PETERSBURG, October 15, 2020 – The traditional Rosstandart Final Board was held in a new format. Panel discussion "Rosstandart 95. Results and plans" was held as part of the International Technology Forum "Russian standards week" in Saint Petersburg on October 14. The forum is dedicated to the 95th anniversary
of Rosstandart and World Standards Day.

Denis Manturov, Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech and congratulations:

"Today, standardization and the overall system of technical regulation is of crucial importance for most sectors of the economy and absolutely for all industries. The level of development of this sphere determines the competitiveness of both domestic and foreign markets. Russian metrology is now in the leading position, and our developments are in high demand by the world community. The national database of standards has been almost completely updated, and even in the difficult conditions of the pandemic, the volume of development and approval of new technical requirements has increased by more than one and a half times. Great success has been achieved in the fight against counterfeit and counterfeit products. All this was achieved in a short period of time, which, of course, is a merit and a reason for pride of the current staff of Rosstandart. At the same time, Rosstandart does not just follow the requirements of the time, but also works ahead of the curve, participating in the digitalization of the economy."

Alexey Abramov, Head of Rosstandart, spoke about the results of work in 2019 and the tasks for 2020-2021. The results include a significant increase in the number of standards in digital format from 3 to 39%, a decrease in the average development time and age of standards, an increase in measuring and calibration capabilities in Russia, a 2-3-fold reduction in falsification in the markets of cable and wire products, cement and fuel, the recall of more than 4 thousand buses that did not pass tests, and large-scale digitalization of the Rosstandart system. A full report on the results of activities in 2019 is available on the Agency's website.

The discussion was attended by Alexey Besprozvannykh, Deputy Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, Maxim Protasov, Head of Roskachestvo, Andrey Chekmenev, Chairman of the Russian Trade Union of Industrial Workers, Igor Drozdov, Chairman of the SKOLKOVO Foundation Board, and Pavel Krylov, Head of the Gazprom Department.

Main tasks for the 2020-2021 years – the adoption of amendments to the Federal Law №162 and the preparation of metrological infrastructure according to the "digital agenda", the introduction of working fine for underfilling, approving some standards for safety of wheeled transport, training of employees, development of international and regional cooperation.

"This year we are celebrating the 95th anniversary of Rosstandart. For almost a century, our standardizers, metrologists, inspectors and other specialists have been doing everything possible to increase the quality of people's lives, increase the competitiveness of our economy and ensure the security of our country," said Alexey Abramov. "The Forum with the participation of business and government representatives will allow us to compare notes on the development of quality infrastructure."
